Eclaircie in Paris
We are back living in our California home, but we will leave our website as it was while we were cruising, and we would be happy to answer any barge related questions.

Since arriving in France in January of 2000, we have learned how to navigate the inland waterways of Europe, and how to live on and maintain a barge. For 6 delightful years, our home port, where we spent our winters, was Roanne, a city in the Rhône-Alpes region of France not too far from Lyon. In 2006, we had the good fortune to be offered a mooring in the port in Paris that is located near the Bastille, and our barge has now become our apartment in Paris. Over the years, we have been learning all about barging on the canals and rivers of France and Belgium, and we are proud to be part of the moving village that is made up of pleasure barges that cruise in Europe. We continue to learn a new language and to try to understand a new culture. This makes life challenging at times, but always interesting, and we hope to share some of our stories with you through our updates. We are currently living in France aboard the very first boat that we have ever owned, a converted 22 meter Dutch barge named Eclaircie. Our web site is designed to keep you up to date on our adventures.
